Tour Description

The island of Sri Lanka, ‘the wonder of Asia’, is one of the most exotic getaways in the world. Be it any kind of holiday trip or tour, the paradise of the Indian ocean has much to offer than one can dream of. It is a 365 day sunny destination with eight UNESCO World Heritage Sites, fifteen national parks showcasing spectacular wildlife. This tour mainly focus on climbing Adam’s Peak or ‘Sri Pada’ – Sacred foot or ‘Samanala kanda’ – mountain of butterflies. This is considered as a must climb once in a lifetime among local devotees. Buddhists worship believing it is the footprint of Buddha. Hindus consider the footprint of Lord Shiva. Muslims & Christians believe it’s Adam’s first step after being exiled from the Garden of Eden. This journey needs some planning. After arriving, check-in at hotel and then go to bed at around 9 pm. Wake up at 2 am and start trekking. Reach the summit at 5 am, watch sunrise and come back down by 8 am. Have a big breakfast and a quick nap to relax your body. It is a hike mix of incline trekking and 5,000-6,000 crumbling stone steps. Challenging, going up is ok, but going down is very hard on your knees and it bands. Legs will be sore but no technical climbing necessary. Takes most people 2-4 hours to summit based on fitness, crowds and breaks. 1-2 hours to come back down. Its better you carry a small backpack and following items if you think necessary. Rain coat, Water bottle, Camera, Travel Insurance, Sunglasses, Trekking poles, Snacks, A warm and dry sweater and Sunscreen. Besides the Adams Peak hike, there are many things to do: fishing, waterfall tour, spice farm, tea plantation visit, etc.

This is what one guest who climbed, written in her FB page. “The sunrise is pretty, but the real spectacular views are on the opposite side of the platform. During high season (Jan-Mar), there is an 80% chance of seeing the shadow of the mountain which appears as a triangular apparition on the horizon. One of the mysteries of Adam’s Peak is the shadow’s perfectly triangular outline which doesn’t tally with the irregular shape of the actual summit itself. Of course, we took plenty of time to pause for the views – some of the most incredible we’ve seen. In fact, climbing Adam’s Peak was the best thing we did in Sri Lanka better than anything else.”

(Kitulgala is a small town in the west of Sri Lanka, within wet zone rain forest, which gets two monsoons each year. The Academy Award-winning ’The Bridge on the River Kwai’ UK film was filmed on the Kelani River near Kitulgala, although nothing remains now except the concrete foundations for the bridge. Kitulgala is also a base for white-water rafting, which starts a few kilometers upstream and also popular as a location for adventure-based training programs. It covers 5 major rapids and 4 minor rapids. This activity is for anyone above the age of 10 years with safety gear, modern rafts, and a comprehensive safety briefing will be given by the rafting instructors beforehand. The distance covered is around 5 KM. The river and its surrounding will make you feel           enchanted, with a memorable experience. The hills above the rubber plantations also have birds and few gentle mammals.)

(Adam's Peak is a 7,359 ft tall conical mountain located in central Sri Lanka. It is well known for the ’Sri Pada’, i.e., "sacred footprint", a 5 ft 11-inch rock formation near the summit, in which mainly Buddhist tradition is held. The surrounding region is largely forested hills, with no mountain of comparable size nearby. The region along the mountain is a wildlife reserve, housing many species varying from elephants to leopards, and including many endemic species. Adam's Peak is important as a watershed. The districts to the south and the east of Adam's Peak yield precious stones as emeralds, rubies and sapphires, for which the island has been famous, and which earned for its ancient name of ‘Ratnadvipa’ or Island of gems.)
