Tour Description

The island of Sri Lanka, ‘the wonder of Asia’, is one of the most exotic getaways in the world. Be it a leisure holiday trip or honeymoon tour, the paradise of the Indian ocean has much to offer than one can dream of. It is a 365 day sunny destination with eight UNESCO World Heritage Sites, fifteen national parks showcasing spectacular wildlife. This tour mainly focus on Leisure. Sri Lanka is fortunate to have rivers, waterfalls, rain forests, misty mountains, tea plantations, jungles and the most famous golden beaches. Hiking or cycling in the woods is a funny experience. Train ride in the picturesque hills, horse ride, boating in lake and getting close to birds and butterflies is a loving experience. City shopping by a tuk-tuk (ride) and later call it a day at a comfortable resting place is a marvelous treat. The food is cosmopolitan. It is fresh and plentiful and most hotels innovate creatively with the wide variety that is available. There is a fairly extensive choice between spicy Sri Lankan food and standard international fare. An abundance of local tropical fruits and fresh fruit juices are an essential feature of any buffet spread. During your journey Baby Coconut and King Coconut is a must to taste and helps to cool down your body temperature. After we sent the final invoice, 10 % of the full amount has to be paid as an advance. (This is a confirmation of the tour). An advance payment receipt will be issued. The balance payment can be paid on arrival or during the tour.


Cancellation should be notified 2 days prior to the arrival date; if not 10 % of the full amount will be canceled.

    In most of the Hotels the Check-In time would be 14.00 hrs and Check-Out time would be 12.00 hrs [Early Check-In / Late Check-Out are provided on availability].

Tour Program


Day 1

Our representative will warmly welcome you at arrival of the Colombo Bandaranayaka International Airport and facilitate all your needs. Then he will introduce you to our English speaking Chauffeur guide who will proceed to Kandy. En-route visiting Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage and Herbal & Spice Garden. In the evening can visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic of Buddha and view a Traditional Cultural Dance performance. Afterwards check-in at the hotel and overnight stay at Kandy.

(At this Orphanage you will find over 80 elephants of all ages that have been found, abandoned or orphaned in     the wild and the unique feature is that you can feed the baby elephants with milk bottles during the feeding times. You can also accompany the elephants to a river close-by and get a nice view of them enjoying their     routine bath at the river)

(Visit a Herbal & Spice garden to see different kinds of spices for which Sri Lanka was and still, famous for and    enlighten your-self with spices used in local cuisines. Here guests could see how some of these spices are grown and processed. Sometimes witness a Cookery demonstration or relax and enjoy a 20 minutes complimentary Ayurveda Massage. A variety of herbal plants are also grown and nurtured in the premises.)

(Kandy was the last capital of the Sri Lankan kings and is a World Heritage Site. The name “Kandy” conjures visions of splendor and magnificence. Many of the legends, traditions and folklore are still lovingly kept alive. Drive around the Kandy lake built by the last king, in 1798. Visit the Kandy town and upper lake drive, the arts    and crafts centre, a gem museum and a lapidary, natural forest, world war II British cemetery,  witness a culture  dance performance and visit the puja ceremony of Sacred  Tooth Relic Temple in Kandy. The white painted    famous Temple of the Tooth which houses the most sacred religious relic, the tooth of the Buddha, is one of the  most venerated sacred temples in the Buddhist world.)

(The Sri Lankan Cultural Dance Show is a showcase of Sri Lankan arts; culture and heritage . The show includes a variety of traditional Kandyan dances, as well as up-country, fire dances and famous devil dances. The dancers   dressed with colorful costumes move with exciting drum rhythms will be a memorable experience to watch.)


Day 2

After breakfast say goodbye to Kandy and drive you to Nuwara Eliya, en-route visiting a Gem Museum and a Tea Factory. Afterwards check-in at the hotel and overnight stay at a hotel in Nuwara Eliya.

(The island of Sri Lanka, also known as "Ceylon" has a long heritage for Gem-mining and trading that dates back    some 2,000 years. Sri Lanka has earned its namesake as the Island of Gems or “Ratnadvipa” with its abundance of  corundum gems, chrysoberyl and alexandrite, garnet, moonstone, peridot, Spinel, topaz, tourmaline, quartz and zircon.)

(Discover Nuwara Eliya, also known as Little England, is where the homesick British (the Tea Planters) built themselves a home away from home. The town of Nuwara Eliya (city of lights) sprawls over the fertile valley  flanked by Mount Pidurutalagala and Single Tree Mountain and is scattered with Victorian-style 19th century  homes, bungalows, guesthouses and hotels complete with gabled roofs, large open fireplaces and hardwood   floors. Nuwara Eliya takes pride in its beautiful gardens with neatly-clipped lawns and colourful flower beds. Explore the surrounding picturesque tea estates, Horse rides and boat rides in Gregory Lake. One of the finest 18  hole golf courses in South Asia is also situated here. Because of its invigorating mountain climate and scenery, is Sri Lanka’s most popular hill resort. Nuwara Eliya is also the heart of Sri Lanka’s tea country producing a significant share of the world’s best tea.)


Day 3

After breakfast drive you to Nuwara Eliya sight seeing. This includes visiting New Zealand Dairy Farm at Ambewela, Horton Plains and Hakgala Botanical Gardens. Overnight stay at a hotel in Nuwara Eliya.

(At Ambewela farm due to the high altitude of 6,064 ft the mean annual temperature in the area is below 17.5 °C , while frost is common during Winter. It is also popular for of being the highest (in altitude) and widest grassland in Sri Lanka. Mammals such as the Sambar deer, Leopard and Rabit dominate the majority  of the forest cover around the area. Ambewela is famous for scenic landscapes,  Rhododendron arboreum flowers. Similar to Horton Plains and Ohiya, this site is also one of the Important Bird Areas of Sri Lanka, making  the area a popular location for birdwatching as well. The climatic and economical conditions in Ambewela make it  an ideal location for dairy farming, hence the country's only milk powder factory is situated in this area. The two animal husbandries, Ambewela Farm and New Zealand Farm, have Ayrshire cattle and Friesian cows    respectively.)

(Visit Horton plains, which is located on a high windswept saddle at about 2134 meters above the sea level. The plains are an expanse of misty grassland with scraggy trees and ice-cold rivulets. Visit to the World’s End (walk is about 12 kms both ways) considered to be the finest view in all of Sri Lanka. The awesome escarpment drops vertically for about 1,235 meters, hence its name. You can also see the beautiful Backer’s falls and mini world’s End. The park shelters mammals such as Sambur, Leopard and endemic Bear Monkeys. This area is the home for over 20 endemic bird species including Sri Lanka’s Whistling Thrushes, Orange-billed Babblers and Yellow-eared Bulbuls.)

(The Hakgala garden was established for cultivation of the medicinal crop Cinchona. Afterwards it was used for  Tea cultivation. In 1884 it was changed into a garden with many subtropical and tropical plants. The legendary India-Lanka folktale ‘Ramayana’ states that Sita, the wife of Rama, was abducted and kept hidden in this area by  the Demon King Ravana who ruled Sri Lanka. The Hakgala garden was supposed to have been a pleasure garden gifted to Sita by the Demon King in an attempt to lessen her sorrow. The Hakgala garden adjoin the Hakgala Strict Nature Reserve. It has a peak of visitors in the local spring season since most plants are in bloom at the time. The garden is famed for their roses and orchids.)


Day 4

After breakfast leave Nuwara Eliya and proceed to Negombo, en-route visiting  strawberry farm and Factory. Afterwards check-in at the hotel and overnight stay at a hotel in Negombo.

(Negombo is a major city in Sri Lanka, located on the west coast of the island. it is the second largest city in Western province after Colombo. It is one of the major commercial hubs in Sri Lanka of about 135,000 inhabitants in the city limits, approximately 33 km north of Colombo. Negombo is known for its huge and  old fishing industry with busy fish markets, Negombo Lagoon, curious sites such as the Dutch churches, perhaps  take a boat ride along the Dutch canals and lagoon, fishing village and nice sandy beaches. It is one of the most liberal cities in Sri Lanka with modern life style and it’s nightlife in luxury hotels, guest houses, finest restaurants and pubs. It is a multi-ethnic, multi-religious and multi-cultural city. There is no other better place like sweet  home town for us at Delight SL Tours.)


Day 5

After breakfast leave from Negombo and proceed to Colombo Bandaranayaka International Airport departure terminal.
